The Precision of Pen: Digital Pen Tablet

One of the main concerns with new users of digital tablets is whether or not it will actually make their drawings look the same on the computer as they do when drawn on paper in a pen or pencil medium. Though a digital tablet can make it much easier to transfer your work from paper to screen, the question of whether or not the quality is the same still concerns some artists.

The truth is that depending on what type of tablet you choose to invest in, the effect can actually be much better than anything that you can draw on paper and then scan into the computer. The problem with scanning a work of art is that not all of the elements are able to easily be recognized or picked up by the scanner. This results in sections of your work missing from the scanned work when it is uploaded on the computer. By utilizing a digital pen tablet, you will not experience this inconvenience.

Digital pen tablets come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes in order to meet all of your creative needs. These tablets are great tools for graphic artists as well as those who enjoy making use of all of the benefits of handwriting recognition software. By utilizing a digital pen, you are able to write or draw on the tablet and get the same level of precision that you would create by using a regular pen and paper. A digital tablet pen is usually about the same size or a bit larger than a regular ink pen, however, they are often contoured to fit your fingers more comfortably and they also maintain the precision tip of a regular pen. The digital pen tablet allows you to move your work directly from creation to the computer in one fluid movement of the digital pen. These tablets work with your computer to allow you to draw on the tablet but have it show up on the screen of your computer.

There are also tablets that record your drawing on the tablet, save them in the internal memory of the tablet or on any available USB flash drive that you may have, and then allow you to use the short cut keys on the tablet to quickly upload your work to your computer once you return to your office. Having this function allows you to take your tablet out into the world to work without having to take all of the electronic paraphernalia that goes along with it.

The tablets run off of battery power, just like your laptop computer, so the amount of time that you can use the tablet away from a power source is somewhat limited, however, the portability of the device more than makes up for it. Some pen tablets will have a higher function than others, allowing you to use your digital pen for everything from a mouse replacement, to a graphic design tablet that allows your work to really shine as it brings a new depth of use to your creations.
